Alona Beach

Alona Beach is located near the southern tip of Panglao Island, and is a beautiful one kilometer long stretch of white sand.

Looking out from the beach, the water is a nice turquoise color and a number of white outrigger boats line the horizon wait for new divers!

There are quite a lot of dive shops here, many of them directly on the beach, so it's worth it to visit a couple and see what deals might be available. Prices, including equipment, hover in the 1600 PHP per dive area (3300 for a 2 dive day), but some shops offer discounted rates in the low season for around 2300 PHP for a 2 dive day).

Basicasag Island is "the" destination most will want to hit. It's about 30 minutes from Alona, and has a number of dive sites around it. Even in the low season, visibility was excellent - probably about 25m. The coral is very healthy, and the underwater seascape is beautiful and varied, ranging from gentle slopes to steep walls filled with tiny caverns.
